There were no street lights in "Little Russia" as it was called; only a long, dark, and eerie gravel road leading to a mysterious "Boo Radley" type settlement nestled between Marion's Thomas Park and the former Ce-Mar Acres. According to a former tenant, "not all of the families living there were refugees; maybe only two or three."

A Marion artist living in a house made from the old Linn County jail, has an ancestry filled with American history, including Dutch Pilgrims who arrived in Cape Cod, Massachusetts on November 9, 1620, aboard the Mayflower. Her name is Mary Louise (Anderson) Andersen, also known as Molly, and this is her story.
   
17 Marion Independent approves Facility Assessment

The Marion Independent School District Board of Education on Monday approved an MISD ICAT Phase 1 QLEO-scope and fee Facility Assessment Proposal (in the amount listed on the proposal as $13,000) during a regular 4:30 p.m. meeting. The Board unanimously agreed an outside assessment is necessary before making any final district improvement priority decisions. And the report is scheduled to be complete in four to six weeks, they said.
