11 Red Cedar Chamber Music presents Backlash Bach

Red Cedar Chamber Music brings Bach's intricate genius to Eastern Iowa with a virtuoso program guaranteed to bring a fresh perspective to Bach's compositions. Violinist Miera Kim and cellist Carey Bostian are joined by guest artist, cellist Isaac Pastor-Chermak, to present J.S. Bach's three magnificent Sonatas for Viola de Gamba and Harpsichord in an exciting new way. They will present Backlash Bach, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, at Lowe Park, 4500 10th Street, Marion. The free concert is sponsored by Foster's Heating and Air, the City of Marion, Farmers State Bank, and the Giacoletto Foundation. It is presented in collaboration with the Marion Arts Council, which provides a post-concert reception.

Visitation was held from 9 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2017, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City, with funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Darran Whiting. Burial followed at Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City.

Garold Thomas "Tom" Ayers, 87, of Marion, formerly of Robinson, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion, following a recent illness. Visitation was from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion with the funeral service at 11 a.m. by Pastor Sheri Andersen. Burial took place at Coggon Cemetery, Coggon.

Iowa's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 3.3 percent in January, down from 3.8 percent one year ago. Although Iowa's unemployment rate dropped, the U.S. unemployment rate increased to 4.8 percent in January.

Judith "Judi" Ann Kibler (Solberg), 70, of Marion, passed away on March 7, 2017, at her home. Visitation was held on Friday, March 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Services were held on Saturday, March 11, at 2 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
