3 Library building project update
by By Jo Pearson Assistant Director · News | March 16th, 2017

The library staff is excited to be presenting a series of conversation- and question-based meetings about the library's building project. We hope you'll be able to attend to get the answers to any questions you have. We try to keep our community and our patrons in the loop about any news or progress, but we also know that you get your news from many sources and not all of it can fill in the gaps in your knowledge.
4 Read to Feed continues at libraries
by By Jo Pearson Assistant Director · News | November 22nd, 2016

The Metro Library Network is proud to partner with HACAP for the Read to Feed initiative. For each food pantry donation you bring in during November, you can get $1 off your fines; just present your donation to our amazing checkout desk staff. Receipts for tax purposes are available upon request. Just want to donate but don't have fines? That's okay, too! Thanks to the Marion Hy-Vee for letting us borrow a grocery cart where you can put your donated items. Unlabeled, expired, and glass items are not accepted. Items most needed include canned chicken or tuna, peanut butter, boxed meals, and canned fruits or vegetables; a more extensive donation list is available at our website. We are excited to help out our neighbors and friends! Donations collected at the Marion Public Library will benefit the Churches of Marion Food Pantry.
5 Welcome new staff at the Library
by By Jo Pearson Assistant Director · News | September 29th, 2016

Watch for new faces in the library when you come in! The staff is happy to welcome Madeline Jarvis as our new Adult Services Coordinator. You'll find Madeline at the Information Desk quite often. She's come to us from a position as Youth Services Coordinator at the Ely Public Library and we are lucky to get her. Madeline has a degree in Sustainable Community Development, as well as her Master's degree in Library and Information Service, and we are excited about her passion for community activism; she will be an enthusiastic addition to our staff and we're sure you'll enjoy her, too.
