1 Teen girl detective & Salem witches
by By Jo Pearson Assistant Director Marion Public Library · News | October 12th, 2017

Is Nancy Drew a treasured childhood friend? Did you stay up late reading with a flashlight under the covers - just one more chapter...? Friends of the Marion Public Library are pleased to host "Nancy Drew: Iowa's Heroine to the World," a Humanities Iowa program presented by Barbara Lounsberry. Nancy Drew is the most popular female detective in fiction. Today she even outsells Miss Marple, Agatha Christie's venerable heroine. More than 200 million copies of Nancy Drew mysteries have been sold, and she has been translated into 17 different languages. Did you know, though, that Nancy is an Iowa heroine and that her creator was Mildred Augustine of Ladora? Come and find out more about this charming teen investigator and her Iowa roots. The program is scheduled for Tuesday, October 17, at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome!
