Donald "Don" James Bean of 3092 Stone Creek Court, Marion, Iowa, passed away June 19, 2017. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, conducted by Reverend Elizabeth Hilkerbaumer and Reverend Dr. Nancy Redmond. The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

The Marion Heritage Center & Museum and the Masonic Lodge #6 AF and AM invite families to come together for Picnic in the Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2017, in Marion Square Park. Old-Time games for the kids and prizes will be available during the event with performances by Bob & Kristie Black of the Banjoy Bluegrass Band from 11 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
   
4 Federal arts funding renewed for upcoming fiscal year

The National Endowment for the Arts announced it is renewing funding to state arts agencies, including $618,100 to the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, for the next state fiscal year (SFY2018) that begins July 1, 2017, and goes through June 30, 2018.
