CP-U ends Marion's season
by Brandon Leonard Correspondent · March 2nd, 2017

In the rubber match between WaMaC West Division rivals with the opportunity to advance deeper into the Class 3A postseason picture, the Center Point-Urbana Stormin' Pointers dominated throughout the game and sent the Marion boys' basketball team home for the 2017 season after winning by a final tally of 61-35. The performance was very uncharacteristic of the Indians as the 26 point margin was their worst loss of the season.

The Indians struggled early and often, trailing 16-4 after one quarter of play and 30-11 at halftime. CP-U stayed strong to start the second half as well, pushing their lead to 30 points after the third period.

Senior Baylor Fish finished as the Indians' leading scorer with seven points while Chase Zielke, Alex Whalen, and Mitch Wiese all finished with six points apiece. Jevin Manderscheid was the leading rebounder for Marion with five boards.

The loss ended Marion's season with a record of 13-10. Center Point-Urbana went on to lose in their Class 3A substate final to West Delaware by a 54-51 final score.
