Rice, Laube earn INA All-State honors
by Brandon Leonard Correspondent · March 9th, 2017

Marion basketball standouts Chloe Rice and Kayba Laube were recognized by the Iowa Newspaper Association as All-State student-athletes for their accomplishments on the court this winter. Rice, a junior, was selected to the Class 4A First Team while Laube, a freshman, was selected to the Class 4A Second Team. This is Rice's third time being selected as a Class 4A All-Stater and her second consecutive year as a First Team selection. Laube was one of just three freshman to earn All-State honors this season.

Rice averaged just over 15 points per game while Laube was right around the same total. Rice led Marion in assists and steals and Laube shot the lights out from three-point range on a consistent basis, shooting more than 43 percent from long distance to establish herself as one of Iowa's top scoring threats.

Rice and Laube are two of 11 Class 4A All-Staters that are slated to return for the 2017-18 season. The duo helped the Indians finish with a record of 24-2 overall as well as a runner-up finish at the 2017 Class 4A State Basketball Tournament and will be hungry to take the next big step towards a state championship next year.
