Robins Fire Department (RFD) would be honored to visit with you about potentially joining a great team focused on the highest possible quality medical and fire response for our friends and neighbors who may be having one of the worst days of their lives based on their need to call 911.

Are you interested in Firefighting, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), or both? We'd love to visit with you informally one-on-one or have you join one of our meetings to get a sense of what's involved in our team.

No experience is required. You would be supported via some of the best training in the area including national certification in firefighting and emergency medical services.

RFD is made up of dedicated men and women ranging in ages from their 20s to 50s. Robins is a volunteer department and members receive a small per-call stipend.

To ensure continued quality emergency response for the community, we are currently at a point where we need to grow our membership. You could help make emergency response in Robins even stronger!

In addition to responding to around 125 emergency calls each year, you would also make a difference via various community outreaches including:

Fire safety training for preschool through elementary

Fire safety for local businesses

Community CPR training

Fire extinguisher training

In addition to the training opportunities, RFD will provide you with access to some of the best equipment and protective gear available. Your efforts would be supported and encouraged via department leadership with nearly a century of combined experience in fire and EMS.

Membership requirements include:

Must be at least 18 years old

Ability to satisfactorily pass a background check

Valid Iowa drivers' license

Ability to pass a basic physical

An interest in learning and helping your community

If you think you are too old to join, one of our newest rookies started after his 40th birthday. He recently completed his Firefighter I national certification and loves it!

If you are not certain that firefighting is for you, and EMS might be a better fit, we offer that option.

You do not need to live in the city of Robins. See a map for approximate membership district.

To set up a time to meet one-on-one or attend one of our meetings, contact Robins City Hall at 319-393-0588 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

If you are not interested but know someone that might be, please share this information.

If you are interested but would like more information, please contact City Hall at 319-393-0588 and they can refer you to a member for any questions you might have. You are also welcome to stop by the station - our training takes place on the second, third, and forth Mondays of each month at 7 p.m. The fire station is located at 225 S. Second Street.
