Advertisement Jill Ackerman from Chamber honored as 2017 Woman of Influence

The Corridor Business Journal recently announced the selection of 10 area ladies who will be honored as 2017 Women of Influence. Among those ladies is Jill Ackerman, president of the Marion Chamber of Commerce.

These women will be profiled in the May 1 edition of the Corridor Business Journal. In addition, an awards banquet is to be held at the Coralville Marriott on April 20 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Each of the ladies will have an opportunity to share their story that evening at the banquet.

They have been selected because they are identified as representative role models who have made a difference in the Corridor and also as leaders in their fields and communities. Any woman living or working in the Corridor is eligible. The 10 women for 2017 were chosen by last year's Women of Influence.

In addition to Ackerman, the following women are to be honored this year:

LaTasha DeLoach, community projects specialist of Johnson County Social Services

RaQuishia Harrington, program supervisor of city of Iowa City Recreation Department

Melissa Murer Corrigan, vice president of social impact at ACT Inc.

Alicia Murphy, chief organizational effectiveness officer of Van Meter Inc.

Marsha Nieland, founder and president of Fusion

Christy Shipley, construction manager of Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity

Cathy Terukina, executive vice president of Folience

Jennifer Welton, vice president of treasury management at Bankers Trust

LaSheila Yates, director of Cedar Rapids Civil Rights Commission

The Corridor Business Journal is owned by the Corridor Media Group in Coralville. It produces information about businesses and their activities in Iowa's Creative Corridor on a weekly basis. The company also provides custom publishing, business data and digital news.

It hosts many of the region's corporate and awards-based events.
