Advertisement Linn-Mar Speech does well at contest last weekend

Once again, the Linn-Mar students had an amazing day at Speech on Saturday, March 11. Fifteen students who participated in 19 events at the State Individual Speech Contest at Vinton-Shellsburg.

The 15 students received Division I ratings in 17 of those events, and 13 of these events received a Division I rating from all three judges while four received two I's and a II.



Here are the Division I events and students.

Freshmen:

Sadie Staker in Storytelling

Gloria Hunt in Storytelling

Maddie DeJong in Storytelling



Varsity:

Grace Wenisch in Literary Program and Prose

Jasmine Aquino in Improvisation

Allie Mersch in Solo Musical Theatre and Literary Program

Katie Hidlebaugh in Expository Address and Radio Broadcasting

McKenna Flood in Prose

Cheyenne Mann in Storytelling and Poetry

Erin O'Hara in Literary Program

Megan Hoppe in Poetry

Sierra Christensen in Poetry

Emma Geneser in Acting



Akash Gururaja received a Division II in Spontaneous Speaking and Alexander Pfaff unfortunately went under time in Radio.

Three students have been invited to perform in Individual All-State at UNI on March 27. They are Cheyenne Mann in both Poetry and Storytelling, Grace Wenisch in Prose, and Katie Hidlebaugh in Radio News.

Coaches are Ann and Kevin Fry, Darlene Johnson and Danielle Patterson.
