Linn-Mar Student of the Week: Michael Bunney

Michael Bunney is a senior at Linn-Mar High School for the 2016-17 school year.

His academic interests include math and physical sciences such as chemistry, astronomy, and physics. Michael plays the viola in orchestra, is on the varsity tennis team, in the show choir band, and is a member of the science club. Michael said, "I volunteer as a tutor every day of the school week." Throughout his time at Linn-Mar, Michael has been awarded academic letter with honors and been awarded Concert Orchestra Most Improved Performer, both in his freshman year. In his sophomore and junior years, he received two academic letters with distinction with a GPA over 4.0.

After graduation, Michael plans to major in physics with a minor in astronomy and possibly chemistry at Iowa State University or the University of Chicago.

In his future, Michael said he wants to "eventually earn a Ph.D in astrophysics and lead my own research. My dream is that my research will somehow make a difference in the scientific community or on an even larger scale. I truly want to do something that changes the world."
