The City of Marion is interested in facilitating the redevelopment of the current library building and site located at 1095 6th Avenue in Marion.

The City is partnering with a development firm and the Marion Public Library Foundation to construct a new library and anticipates vacating the building at the end of 2018. The City is seeking proposals from developers, commercial interests or nonprofit entities to redevelop the property to its best use.

The City of Marion is acting in concert with the Library Board of Trustees to bring about a redevelopment that is consistent with community goals, the appropriate adopted development plans and ordinances, and is an asset to the surrounding neighborhood. The ideal firm must demonstrate the technical experience, financial strength and proven ability to effectively redevelop the property within the parameters outlined in the Request for Proposals (RFP).

A copy of the RFP can be obtained by clicking on Public Notices at www.cityofmarion.org.

Responses shall be submitted to Elsworth Carman, Library Director, Marion Public Library, 1095 6th Avenue, Marion, Iowa 52302. Questions can be directed to him at 319-377-1421.

Responses are due by Friday, May 19, 2017. Proposals are expected to be initially reviewed by the Library Board and City staff with a recommendation made to the Marion City Council within 30 days of the proposal due date.
