Garcia, Strottman lead Lions over Warriors
by Brandon Leonard Correspondent · April 20th, 2017

Linn-Mar sophomore Hannah Garcia scored the lone Lion goal off of an assist from freshman Piper Carey last Thursday evening at home, and it was the only scoring the team would need. The Lions edged their Mississippi Valley Conference rival Cedar Rapids Washington by a 1-0 tally to improve their record to 2-0 both overall and in MVC play.

Garcia, Carey and Abigail Santana applied heavy pressure to the Warriors throughout the game, combining for 10 of Linn-Mar's 11 shots on goal. A strong effort from senior goalkeeper Allie Strottman helped the Lions secure their second shutout victory of the season. Strottman finished the game with five saves.

Linn-Mar will be back in action this week with a road game against Cedar Rapids Xavier on Tuesday, April 18, and a home game against Dubuque Senior on Thursday, April 20.
