Kayba Laube may still have more than three years left as a Marion Indian and is currently excelling for Marion on the soccer field, but the freshman decided to commit over the weekend and become a University of Northern Iowa Panther and play for its women's basketball program after graduation.

In her lone season on the prep hardwood, Laube averaged nearly 14 points per game but had the ability to change the game with her electric scoring at any time. Laube shot over 51 percent from the field as well as a blistering 43.7 percent from three-point range. She showed a lot of poise at the free throw line as well, converting on 83 percent of her opportunities at the charity stripe.

Laube, a second team All-State player this season, will return to her father's squad in 2017-18 along with the four other starters from this season, including her older sister Mia. The Indians (24-2 overall) were state runners-up in 2017, falling in overtime of the Class 4A State Championship to North Scott.
