Hiawatha Parks and Recreation is looking for coaches for the city's Blastball and Soccer youth programs.

The six-week summer programs will begin in June. "It really makes the programs run smooth when we have help from parents and family members," said Ambyr Young, coordinator for Hiawatha Parks and Recreation.

In addition, the Hiawatha Parks and Recreation Department is having a Live Healthy Iowa track meet for children on Saturday, May 13, and a youth Little Mustangs Basketball Clinic at Hiawatha Elementary School on Wednesday, May 10.

Another set of events to look for is sand volleyball. Adult league will start in May and youth league will begin in June or July, depending on age. Tennis for all ages is from June through August, soccer for ages 3-6 in June, and Blastball for ages 3-5 in July.

The Parks and Recreation adult kickball tournament will also begin early in August.
