Both Linn-Mar varsity track and field teams placed second at their respective MVC Divisional Track and Field Meets last Thursday. Both the boys and girls were edged by loaded Iowa City West squads.

For the Lion boys, the team was victorious in three events, two of which were individual events. Zeal Baker dominated the 110-meter high-hurdles with a winning time of 14.76 seconds while Ryan Murphy was a winner at the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:26.96. The Lion Shuttle Hurdle Relay team ripped off a winning time of 58.43 seconds.

As for the Lion girls, they also won three races due in large part to Payton Wensel. Wensel left the field in the dust for the 400-meter dash as she won with a time of 58.32 seconds. Wensel also won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.67, almost three seconds faster than runner-up Valerie Welch from Iowa City West. Linn-Mar also edged Dubuque Wahlert in the Sprint Medley Relay.

Linn-Mar will do battle at their District Meet at Dubuque Senior this Thursday.
