Updates on new proposed library to continue indefinitely
by Nancy Grindle Correspondent · May 18th, 2017

According to Library Director Elsworth Carman, updates about the new proposed Marion Public Library will continue to be provided and more dates of meetings will be posted throughout the upcoming months.

The next meeting is to be held on Thursday, May 25, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. in Meeting Room B at the Library.

A number of sessions have already been held, and more are scheduled for various times of the day and days of the week, to permit residents to attend but still accommodate work schedules.

The sessions include an introduction about the proposed library and a review of major facts. Then library staff members provide current updated plans and drawings for small groups to look at and ask questions or make comments. The group reconvenes as a whole before adjourning.

The meetings are about an hour long, but people are invited to talk with Carman afterwards or at a different time, depending on personal schedules. And even though a person went to an earlier session, he or she is welcome to return again.

The Friends of the Library will meet on Tuesday, May 23, at 6:45 p.m., and the public is also invited to that meeting. If unable to attend this month, the Friends meeting is at the same time on the third Tuesday of each month (except December). Like the update meetings, it is in Meeting Room B.
