Liberty Band of Iowa from Marion and Guttenberg German Band visit festival

The Liberty Band of Iowa (Marion) and the Guttenberg German Band will make their first appearances at the 26th annual Iowa Municipal Band Festival on Saturday, July 8 in Boone, Iowa. The Liberty Band will play at 11. a.m., and the Guttenberg German Band will play at 1 p.m.

Two out-of-state bands, the Zumbrota Community Band (Zumbrota, Minnesota) and the First Nebraska Volunteers Band (Blair, Nebraska), will make return visits to the festival. The Minnesota band will play at 2 p.m., and the Nebraska band will perform at 4 p.m.

The Boone Municipal Band hosts the Iowa Municipal Band Festival at Herman Park Pavilion in Boone. It is a free event. Bring a lawn chair or use the bleacher seating or picnic tables and hear a great line-up of community bands. First Baptist Church and RSVP will man the food court where sandwiches, pies, ice cream and drinks will be for sale. A shuttle service will be available to transport you from your vehicle to the pavilion. This event is held rain or shine.

11 a.m. Liberty Band of Iowa (Marion)

Noon Dcamp Family Band (Bettendorf)

1 p.m. Guttenberg German Band

2 p.m. Zumbrota Community Band (Zumbrota, Minnesota)

3 p.m. Ames Municipal Band

4 p.m. First Nebraska Volunteers Band (Blair, Nebraska)

5 p.m. Des Moines New Horizons Band

6 p.m. Boone Municipal Band
