Lions baseball team snaps six-game skid
by Brandon Leonard Correspondent · June 22nd, 2017

The Linn-Mar baseball team's trend of streaky play continued last week, but in negative fashion as they dropped six straight contests over a week span. The Lions were swept by both City High and Dubuque Wahlert while also taking one loss apiece from North Scott and Cedar Rapids Kennedy. The Lions were able to snap their losing streak, however, with a 6-2 win over Kennedy on Monday night at home.

In the 6-2 victory over the Cougars, Joshua Hilsenbeck nearly went the distance and picked up the win on the mound. He struck out six while allowing just four hits and two runs over 6 and ⅔ innings of work. Aaron Pistulka relieved him and got the final out to seal the deal. Hilsenbeck also drove in three runs to power the Lion offensive unit. Justin Abel and Kirby Kerr both drove in one run apiece as well.

Linn-Mar's record currently sits at 11-13 overall and 5-9 in Mississippi Valley Conference play. The Lions are scheduled for six games in the next five days as they have double-headers planned for Dubuque Senior, Cedar Rapids Xavier, and Cedar Rapids Washington.
