by Brandon Leonard Correspondent · June 22nd, 2017

The Marion softball girls picked up a hard-fought 10-0 victory over Springville last Friday night to snap a 12-game losing streak that dated all the way back to June 2. With the win, the Indians now hold a record of 5-16 overall.

Earlier in the week, Marion was swept by Independence and also took a loss from Maquoketa as the the losing streak reached double-digits. Alicia Steepleton and Megan Kessens each took losses against Independence. Steepleton took the loss against Maquoketa but got the win against Springville, pitching all five innings and striking out seven batters. Jordyn Dunn and Sydney Nielsen each drove in two runs apiece while Maddie Knapp, Cloee Kraft, and Shannon Sellers each plated a batter as well.

Marion is scheduled for a double-header on the road against Williamsburg and a weekend tournament in Marshalltown.
