A solid week for the Linn-Mar baseball guys brought their record back to .500 as they now sit 14-14 overall on the season. The Lions split games in double-header action with both Cedar Rapids Kennedy and Cedar Rapids Washington last week. Linn-Mar followed up last week with a sweep of Dubuque Senior on Monday night at home.

In the 6-2 win over Kennedy, Joshua Hilsenbeck struck out six and earned the win on the mound. Hilsenbeck also drove in three runs to lead the Lions offensively.

The Lions loss to the Cougars came by a final tally of 9-8 in eight innings of play. Reed Zahradnik took the loss pitching, despite six strong innings of work. Aaron Nibaur had a career night batting, going three-for-five with four RBIs, but in the end, it wasn't enough to help the Lions get the sweep.

Reese Phillips had the hot bat in the 10-5 triumph over Washington as he went three-for-three with three RBIs and a stolen base. Josh Strauss had just one hit but it was a triple and he drove in two runs in the process. Strauss was also the winning pitcher, finishing with four strikeouts in six innings on the mound.

In game two against the Warriors, Aaron Pistulka was the losing pitcher after the 9-7 defeat. Hilsenbeck drove in two runs to lead the Lion bats.

Pistulka pitched just one of the 10 innings in Linn-Mar's 5-4 thriller against Dubuque Senior, but it was enough to earn the victory. Nibaur went three-for-six at the plate with two RBIs to lead the Lions to victory. Nibaur and Jared Zeiser each plated two Lions apiece in the 10-3 win in Game Two while Hilsenbeck picked up the win as pitcher.

The Lions have double-headers scheduled against Bettendorf and juggernaut Iowa City West this week.
