Advertisement Linn County absentee voting for special election

Early absentee voting started on June 22 for the Linn County Special Election to choose a County Representation Plan. Election Day is scheduled for Tuesday, August 1, 2017.

Residents may choose to either vote in-person, mail the ballot, or hand-deliver absentee ballots for the special election. Voters can vote in person at the Election Services Department in the Auditor's office located in the Linn County Public Service Center, 935 2nd Street SW, Cedar Rapids. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Absentee ballots can be mailed to voters if requested. To return mailed ballots, voters can send their ballot by mail or hand-deliver them to the Election Services Department. If ballots are returned by mail, they must be postmarked on or before Monday, July 31, in order to be counted.

Dates and deadlines for the special election are:

Thursday, June 22: Absentee Voting begins.

Friday, July 21: Last day to pre-register to vote.

Friday, July 28: Last day to request an absentee ballot to be mailed.

Monday, July 31: Last day to return a voted absentee ballot by mail (postmark deadline) and last day to vote in-person absentee.

Tuesday, August 1: Election Day
