A blown-glass display glistened as bright morning sun-rays shone down on the friendly neighborhood Marion Farmers' Market on Saturday, June 24, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Throughout the morning, dozens of area residents looked over handmade and homegrown items for sale under tents and in Taube Park's pavilion.

The temporary roadside style market located at 2200 31st Street, included a variety of local vendors' wares, including fresh-from-the-farm produce, Rehberg's Pork, Down Range Coffee, and Kettel House honey. Made-from-scratch bakery items, such as, sticky rolls and cookies were also available, as were homemade specialty pot holders, hanging plastic bag dispensers and dolls.

Classic KMRY 1450 AM radio General Manager Eric Walker, Ricky Bartlett and Susan (Glaza) Gordon also broadcast live 8 to 10 a.m. from the park while awarding area business coupons and prizes to anyone who wanted to spin the "Super Spectacular Summer Sponsor Spin" wheel. "We love supporting local vendors and area markets!" []

The Marion Farmers' Market is open rain or shine each Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., now through September 30 in Taube Park. Vendors who are interested in a booth may contact the Marion Parks and Recreation office at 319-447-3590 for availability, rates, and other questions.
