Around the Fire Hydrant
by Article submitted by the City of Robins Fire Department · July 10th, 2017

I want to thank everybody that attended our pancake breakfast. I also want to thank all the volunteers, city council members, residents, and family members of our department in helping us out on this event. It is not possible to do this without your help. This year the weather was a little soggy and our numbers were down, but the money that we received in donations is still going towards the ATV. We are still pursuing grants to finish the project.

Robins City Council has passed the ordinance for fireworks. This is a new thing for Robins, and from a fire department perspective, we want people to make good choices and think before you shoot them off. Certain fireworks require permits to shoot off. For more information call City Hall.

The Robins Fire Department is still looking for residents of Robins or our surrounding area for new members. If you are interested in the EMS/Firefighting world, we are looking for you. If you do not have experience, we can train you. Come to our Monday night trainings or go to our website at to look at what we have to offer to you. Applications can be picked up at City Hall or give me a call at 319-721-7075 to get more information. Yes, it does require a commitment, but the rewards of serving your community are forever lasting.

Safety tip of the month: If you notice that you are taking longer to dry your clothes, you may want to look at your dryer vent to see if it is plugged with lint.
