Summer Reading for Adults Underway!

Build a Better World at the Marion Library throughout the summer; get involved in our summer reading program for adults! Get signed up for our summer party with wine, beer, light refreshments, and live music, scheduled for Saturday, July 29:

Enjoy an evening of Celtic music with nationally acclaimed Celtic fingerstyle guitarist Jerry Barlow on Wednesday, July 19, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome and there is no charge.

Altered Books

Memory Boxes

Do you need a place to keep your treasures? Come craft a literary memory box out of a book and decorate it with whatever you choose on Tuesday, July 25, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Just bring your creativity. All supplies provided. Registration required:

Summer Wine Down

Join us for our summer party from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 29! We'll have live music by ever popular Bill Wenstrom; wine, beer, soft drinks, and light snacks; door prizes; and our grand prize drawing! Don't miss out, this is always a fun evening. Everyone age 18+ is welcome, although, of course, you'll need to prove you're over 21 to enjoy our beers and wines. Corral your friends and come together! Get registered today at space will be limited to the first 50.

HACAP Mobile

Food Pantry

HACAP will distribute food via the mobile pantry on Wednesday, July 12, from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Katz parking lot across the street if the weather's nice, in Meeting Room B if it is inclement. Eligibility guidelines apply.

Do you love the old classic movies? Want to share your love with others over coffee and donuts? Join us for Movie Monday: Classics, Coffee, & Donuts. On the third Monday morning of each month at 10 a.m., we show a classic film, and program sponsor Humana provides coffee and donuts. This month's movie is Pride of the Yankees, starring Gary Cooper, Walter Brennan and Babe Ruth.

Genealogy Junkies

Our Genealogy Junkies groups provide an opportunity for anyone interested in genealogy to get together with peers to learn and to share research tips and tricks. Bring a laptop or tablet computer, or check out one of the library's laptops from the Information Desk. Explore our online resources such as, HeritageQuest, and our historical newspapers. NEW: FOLD3 with historical military records! Everyone is welcome! There are two groups for you to attend! Morning Geneology Junkies meet on Thursdays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and the Evening Geneology Junkies meet on Wednesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

If you are homebound but would still like to be able to check out books and audiobooks from the Marion Library, we can help! Friends of the Marion Public Library sponsors the Friends Home Book Program. Grab a flyer from the library or from the Friends Bookstore. You can download an application and the flyer from our program webpage ( or email with any questions.

Monday through Thursday: 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Friday through Saturday: 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sunday: 2 to 5 p.m.
