by Staff report · July 20th, 2017

Back on Thursday, June 22, around 11:55 p.m., Marion Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting near the Marion Public Library, located at 1095 6th Avenue. According a new Marion Police Department media release, after speaking with the Linn County Attorney, Marion Police charged Matthew Boleyn, age 37, with Disorderly Conduct and Criminal Mischief in the 4th degree on July 12, 2017.

"Boleyn had caused damage to Samuel Gire's (age 29) vehicle by shattering his window, resulting in the Criminal Mischief charge. Boleyn was charged with Disorderly Conduct, due to him exiting his vehicle, challenging two subjects to a physical fight, one of them being Gire, and then breaking out Gire's car window. This led to Boleyn being shot by Gire while Gire was still in his vehicle."
