Kiah Stokes and the New York Liberty took care of business on Sunday against the defending WNBA Champion, the Los Angeles Sparks. The Liberty team had a dominant second quarter of play and won 83-69 at home.

Tina Charles led all scorers with 21 points for New York, while Shavonte Zellous and Epiphanny Price added 19 and 18 points apiece to help out the Liberty cause. Stokes got about 15 minutes of playing time and scored two points to go along with three rebounds and a blocked shot.

The Liberty, who are in the midst of a tight playoff race, own the fifth best record in the WNBA and are two-and-a-half games back behind the fourth-place Washington Mystics. Three playoff spots have already been locked up by Los Angeles, Minnesota and Connecticut.

The Liberty will do battle with Connecticut at the Mohegan Sun Arena, Montville, Connecticut on Friday, August 18, starting at 6 p.m. Central Standard Time.
