by Brandon Leonard Correspondent · August 24th, 2017

Kiah Stokes and the New York Liberty basketball team upended perennial powerhouse Minnesota on Sunday, August 20, at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The Liberty flexed their muscles in the second half to come back and beat the team with the best record in the WNBA by a 70-61 tally to clinch a spot in the WNBA Playoffs.

Veteran Tina Charles was up to her old tricks yet again, scoring 19 points to go along with nine rebounds. Stokes scored four points and grabbed five rebounds in a little under 16 minutes of work to help out the Liberty cause.

The season is winding down as the Liberty own a record of 17-12 overall. The team was back in action again on Wednesday, August 23, on the road against the Indiana Fever. Results were unknown at press time.
