Xavier shuts out Lions
by Brandon Leonard Correspondent · September 7th, 2017

A stifling defensive performance from the Xavier Saints resulted in the Linn-Mar football team's second loss of the season as the Lions now sit at 0-2 overall. Xavier, who owns the top ranking in Class 3A according to various media polls, handled Linn-Mar by a final tally of 16-0 in Cedar Rapids last Friday evening.

Senior quarterback Trot Carey did not have time to get really anything going offensively as the Saints defensive unit recorded over a half-dozen sacks to go along with three interceptions. Carey finished with 84 yards through the air, 55 of those yards going to Aaron Nibaur.

The Lions will look to get back on the right track this Friday night at home as they will do battle with Cedar Rapids Jefferson. The J-Hawks enter the contest with a record of 0-2 as well.
