The fantasic freshman duo of Micah Poellet and Lilly Geelan dominated the competition as the pair finished first and second respectively at the annual Linn-Mar Cross Country Invitational. Both the Linn-Mar boys and girls teams competed with five other programs on Saturday, September 2, at Lowe Park.

Despite the Lions having four runners place in the top 10, Linn-Mar wound up second in the team race, just two points behind meet champion Dubuque Hempstead. Another freshman, Chloe Skidmore, placed seventh while senior Rachel Bohnenkamp finished ninth individually. The Lions' scoring was rounded out by a 15th place run by junior AJ Kendrick.

On the boys side of things, Colin Johnston and Dylan Dolezal led the way as they placed third and fourth respectively. Trent Long had a sixth place run, Brycen Snell finished eighth, while Johnny Seitz rounded out the scoring with a 13th place finish.

Hempstead won the boys team championship as well with 33, just one better than Linn-Mar's 34.

The two teams look to compete this week on Thursday, September 7, at Noelridge Park with a starting time of 4:30 p.m. and will take a break until the Cross Country Invitational at the Iowa State University Cross Country Course on Saturday, September 16.
