"We are very excited to become a part of the Marion community," said Bistro 3 Nineteen Owner/Executive Chef Brittany Hannah. The new business will soon open in the former Maid-Rite restaurant (a.k.a. the Owen Building) on the northeast corner of 7th Avenue and 10th Street across from City Square Park.

According to Chef Hannah, the bistro will seat about 90 patrons inside, and plans are being made for approximately 25 more seats in the Uptown Artway area. "The building is undergoing a complete historical remodel, and, in most places, was taken back to the studs or bearing walls to restore the building to its original beauty," Chef Hannah said. No official opening date has been set, but she said they are hoping it will be in early October.

Chef Hannah stated she will offer a variety of menu items, "from American classics to more modern items with a bit of a twist." For example, she takes the traditional omelet and turns it into scrambled egg-stuffed grilled cheese for breakfast, she said.

Bistro prices will vary from $7 to $29 and will include house-ground burgers; salads, such as the Norwegian Salmon Salad served with an orange-soy dressing; feature soups made daily; a wide variety of appetizers, like Philly cheesesteak dip; sandwiches; and dinner entrees, she said.

Chef Hannah is a 2010 graduate from the Culinary Institute of America, with a Bachelors in Baking & Pastry Arts Management, and a 2012 graduate from the University of Iowa with a Masters in Business Administration. She said she has had more than 10 years of experience in the restaurant industry, and has worked at restaurants such as The Yacht Club Bakery at Disney World, Yachtsman Steakhouse at Disney World, Zins, Elmcrest Country Club, Brewed Awakenings, and Bistro on the River.

Chef Hannah said she decided to locate her business in Marion as she is a Linn-Mar graduate and has always liked the area. She is very excited about the changes being made in the Uptown area and likes how much Marion residents appreciate local businesses.

Bistro 3 Nineteen hours of operation will be Monday from 5 to 9 p.m.; Tuesday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 to 9 p.m.; Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and from 5 to 10 p.m.; Saturday Brunch from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday Dinner from 5 to 10 p.m.
