Poellet wins Steve Johnson Invitational
by Brandon Leonard Correspondent · October 5th, 2017

Freshman Micah Poellet continued her strong rookie campaign for the Linn-Mar Girls' Cross Country team on Saturday at the Steve Johnson Invitational in Waverly. Poellet dominated the competition and won the meet with a time of 18:10.10, more than 27 seconds better than runner-up Courtney West from Minnesota's Kasson-Mantorville High School.

Rachel Bohnenkamp placed 23rd overall with a time of 20:05.80, while Abby Van Rheenen was 42nd with a time of 20:48.8.

Poellet, Bohnenkamp and Van Rheenen were the only varsity competitors for the Lions, so they did not score in the team race. Wisconsin school Onalaska High was the meet champion with a total of 67 points.

The Lions will be back in action this Thursday, October 5, to compete in the MVC Conference SuperMeet at Dubuque Soccer Complex with a race time of 3:30 p.m. This will lead up to the MVC - Mississippi Divisional Meet at Seminole Valley Cross Country Course on Thursday, October 12, at 3:30 p.m.
