Indians win three, lose two in Waterloo
by Brandon Leonard Correspondent · October 5th, 2017

After picking up a WaMaC Conference victory earlier in the week against Clear Creek-Amana, the Marion volleyball team made the trip up Interstate 380 to Waterloo for a Saturday tournament hosted by Columbus Catholic. Facing some stiff competition, the Indians left Waterloo with three wins and two losses, an overall pretty successful weekend.

The Indians earned 2-0 sweeps over Sumner-Fredericksburg, Vinton-Shellsburg and BCLUW Conrad while being swept by a 2-0 margin against Independence and Starmont. Andrea Landuyt recorded a team best 27 kills on Saturday over the five game stretch for the Indians.

Marion looked for revenge this week on the road as they played Independence on Tuesday, October 3, and will look to compete against South Tama High School on the road Thursday, October 5, at 7:30 p.m.

To cap off the busy week, the Indians will compete in the West Side Invitational at host school Cedar Rapids Jefferson this Saturday, October 7, with pool play beginning at 8:30 a.m. The tournament will lead into the team's WaMaC Conference Tournament with pool play on Tuesday, October 10, at 4 p.m. and bracket play on Thursday, October 12, at 4 p.m.
