Poellet, Geelan go 2-3 at MVC Super Meet
by Brandon Leonard Correspondent · October 12th, 2017

Linn-Mar freshmen Micah Poellet and Lilly Geelan had great outings last Thursday in Dubuque at the annual Mississippi Valley Conference Super Meet, but they weren't enough to best Iowa City West senior Bailey Nock, who ran away with the meet championship with a time of 18:07.1. Poellet would have to settle for a runner-up performance, crossing the stripe with a time of 18:19.8 while Geelan would place third with a time of 18:39.9.

Chloe Skidmore crossed the stripe in 20th place to help the Linn-Mar cause while Abby Van Rheenen was scored 44th. Junior A.J. Kendrick rounded out the Lion scoring with a 54th place run, good enough to give Linn-Mar fifth place as a team. Dubuque Hempstead won the meet for the girls on a tiebreaker over Iowa City West.

On the boys' side of things, senior Colin Johnston led the charge for the Lions with an 11th place run. Dylan Dolezal wasn't far off with a 17th place run while Brycen Snell placed 24th. Trent Long was scored in 29th and Cadin Evans rounded out the scoring with a 32nd place run. This gave Linn-Mar 113 points, good enough to place third in the 13-team field. Prairie was the boys' meet champion winning via tiebreaker over Dubuque Hempstead. Iowa City West's Kolby Greiner won the individual title with a time of 15:43.7.
