Lions miss State Golf
by Brandon Leonard Correspondent · October 12th, 2017

An overall successful season was cut short last week for the Linn-Mar boys' golf team as they missed qualifying for the Class 4A State Golf Meet by just one stroke. The Lions scored a 316 team score, one behind third-place and eventual state qualifier Cedar Rapids Prairie at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course.

Cedar Falls enjoyed a little home cooking as they defended their turf, winning the district meet with a team score of 300 while Marshalltown carded a 307.

The Lions were unable to send anyone individually to the state meet either at Elmwood Country Club in Marshalltown.

Marshalltown's Nate Vance ended up winning the Class 4A Individual State Championship with a two-day score of 142. Vance helped the Bobcats claim the Class 4A State Championship with a team score of 582, 16 strokes better than runner-up Johnston.
