by DJ Kauffman, Correspondent · October 12th, 2017

Anderson-Bogert is a family-owned, civil engineering and land surveying firm servicing public and private clients throughout Eastern Iowa. The company began in 1955 with its main office located in Cedar Rapids and a second location in Marion.

The Anderson-Bogert office in Marion has recently moved to the newly restored Cobban-Hervey building, located at 1138 7th Avenue in Uptown Marion. Anderson-Bogert office personnel began moving to their newly renovated, second floor space (stairs only), on Sept. 28 from their former address of 790 11th Avenue. According to one of the company's four owners John Bogert, their new location was

completely stripped out, leaving the original wood floors and doors. "It's going to be great," he said.

Anderson-Bogert currently has 24 employees; most are licensed Civil Engineers. Bogert said the company works with government street, sewer, airport, etc., design projects, and they are currently helping with the development of a Marion Airport layout improvement and expansion plan. "We are a strong supporter of Marion," Bogert said.

Among their listed successes are the new Armar Drive extension and the Marion Central Corridor Project; Phase 1 (five are planned) completion. Bogert said they worked with the City of Marion, landscape architects, and the Marion Parks Department.

According to, "The project included the installation of 6th Avenue in the heart of Marion's Central Business District. Other improvements included a multi-use trail, pedestrian accommodations, and street-scaping. Significant improvements to the storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water mains were also included in this project."

Bogert said they partner with

public and private entities on concept and design problems in order to make things work, and help clients with project funding solutions when needed.
