Lions, Indians to invade Fort Dodge

The cream of the crop in Iowa high school cross country will compete in Fort Dodge this Saturday as the annual Iowa High School State Cross Country Meet will take place with start time of 11 a.m. Both Linn-Mar and Marion will be well represented, as both Linn-Mar teams qualified as a team while the Marion boys make another return trip in search of a state title. Marion junior Hallie Kephart also qualified individually in the Class 3A girls' race.

The Linn-Mar boys will feature Dylan Dolezal, Cadin Evans, Trent Long, Colin Johnston, Preston Stecklein, Brycen Snell and Tye Skilang. They will run at 11:30 a.m. and will wear numbers 606 through 612.

Freshman Micah Poellet will lead the Linn-Mar girls' squad in the race alongside teammates Rachel Bohnenkamp, Lilly Geelan, Chloe Skidmore, Sarah Murphy, Abby Van Rheenen and A.J. Kendrick. The girls will kick off the Class 4A meet at 11 a.m.

Marion's Jeremy Fopma will look to go back-to-back in the Class 3A boys' field. Fopma won the state meet last year with a time of 16:02.6; ahead of former teammate and current Center Point-Urbana runner Myles Bach. The clash between Fopma and Bach has been much anticipated and will come to fruition starting at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Kephart is back again in the Class 3A girls' race andshe will be gunning for her first state title. The Class 3A girls' race starts at noon.
