Lions Cruise to State
by Brandon Leonard Correspondent · November 2nd, 2017

The Linn-Mar volleyball team needed just three sets to dispose of the Waukee Warriors on Halloween Eve in front of a packed house in Marion. The 3-0 win propelled the Lions to yet another trip to the Class 5A Iowa High School State Volleyball Tournament at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids. The Lions also qualified for the State Tournament in 2016.

The victory was Linn-Mar's 30th of the season, and they now hold a record of 30-10 for the 2017 campaign. Good enough to earn the fifth seed in Class 5A, Linn-Mar will face a familiar foe: Cedar Rapids Jefferson. The fourth-seeded J-Hawks own a record of 39-6 overall and a 3-1 advantage over the Lions in 2017.

Other Class 5A qualifiers include Cedar Falls, Urbandale, Dowling Catholic, Ankeny Centennial, Dubuque Hempstead and Valley. The Lions and J-Hawks will battle next Tuesday, November 7, at 2 p.m. on Court One.
