Master Auto Repair, Inc. in Marion celebrates 25 years in business
by DJ Kauffman Correspondent · November 9th, 2017

Remember the good ol' days when the only seat belt in the car was your mom's arm? Or when shifting gears required pushing a button and flipping a switch?

According to Nick Nassif and Eli AbouRaad, owners of Master Auto Repair, Inc. located at 243 7th Avenue in Marion, many changes in the automotive industry have taken place over the years, and they have all been for the better. For example, today, most new cars can go 100,000 miles before needing a tune-up.

Master Auto Repair will officially hit its quarter-century milestone on November 13. "We've made a lot of friends, and more than anything else, we want to thank our customers from the bottom of our hearts," Nassif and AbouRaad said. The duo attributes their successful 25 years in business to reasonable pricing, honesty, and keeping the golden rule, "Treat people as you want to be treated."

With extensive backgrounds in automotive repair, brother-in-laws Nassif and AbouRaad decided to open their made-from-scratch business at 1204 Blairs Ferry Road in Marion, where Kings Kars is currently located. According to Nassif, it was a busy corner where they saw many accidents take place over the years. And, "we didn't make much money at first," AbouRaad added.

When Nassif and AbouRaad later decided to move their business, they chose the current property because they liked the small town feel and its great Central Corridor location. They have made extensive improvements to the current facility since purchasing it 10 1/2 years ago.

"The building was a warehouse at first," Nassif said. It was previously a Standard Station that burnt down and was later rebuilt and leased by All County Electrical Corporation.

At Master Auto Repair, Nassif and AbouRaad fix foreign and domestic vehicles and service between five and 10 cars each day on average, depending on the complexity of each project. The business provides services such as tune-ups, oil changes, brakes, water pumps, computer work, fuel injection, front end work, suspension, and struts; prices vary depending on the repair. They do not, however, do engine or head gasket work, Nassif said.

In order to keep up with changing technology, both Nassif and AbouRaad take specialized classes a couple of times each year. And, according to Nassif, it was easier to diagnose a problem 20 years ago, but was sometimes harder to fix than it is today.

Also, before making repairs, they said they will check everything over and let the vehicle's owner know about safety issues first, because safety is their number one concern.
