Daniel and Cavan O'Hara were honored at a joint Eagle Scout Court of Honor on Saturday, November 4, at St. Mark's Church.

John Stewart, Daniel and Cavan's uncle, is a retired Army Colonel and resides in Fairfax, VA. He became an Eagle Scout in the class of 1977 (UCSanta Barbara Grad ROTC, commissioning source).

Ron Stewart, a second uncle, is a former Army officer who went to West Point (class of 1989) and got his Eagle Scout rank in 1979. He lives in Waco, TX.

Jim Stewart, the third uncle, is a retired Navy Captain. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1981 and now resides in Springfield, VA. Jim became an Eagle Scout in the Class of 1974.

The boys' grandfather, William B. Stewart, age 91, is a retired Navy dentist. He and another son, also William, were unable to attend the Court of Honor for Daniel and Cavan.

Rosemary, the boys' mother is a USMA West Point graduate, class of 1982, and a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel.

Daniel's Eagle Scout project was landscaping an inner courtyard at the newly renovated Linn-Mar High School. Twenty-three volunteers worked with him on this project which included clearing out and landscaping. It took 120 hours over three work sessions: mowing and removal of all weeds; preparation with Roundup and tilling; placing ground cover, plants, and rock; and then frequent watering.

Cavan's project involved the removal of invasive garlic mustard plants from the Wickiup Hill Nature Learning Resource Center prairie before the plants dropped more seed. His project cleared several areas adjacent to paths where the new nature playground is being installed. The project took place over two full weekends and totaled 140 hours with the help of 26 volunteers.
