Linn-Mar junior Megan Renner and Marion senior Caitlyn Smith were recently selected as All-State volleyball honorees voted on by the Iowa Girls' Coaches Association for their outstanding 2017 seasons. Both girls were selected to the First Team in their respective classes.

Renner, a Class 5A selection, did a little bit of everything for the Lions this season as the girls reached the Class 5A State Semifinals. Renner had 146 kills while also boasting a .949-percent serve efficiency. Renner also had 821 assists, 173 digs and 84 total blocks before bowing out to eventual state champion Cedar Falls.

Smith, a Class 4A selection, was an assist machine during her career at Marion, and that story remained the same this season with 924 assists. Smith also had 224 digs, 99 kills and 48 total blocks as she helped Marion win another WaMaC Tournament Conference Championship before falling in postseason play to Center Point-Urbana.
