New Prices

in Book Store!

The library's Friends group is excited to announce new less expensive prices on all book store merchandise just in time for your holiday shopping! Beginning this month, all hardcover books are just $2 each; paperbacks are $1. Come in and stock up!

Book Lover's

Calendars Available!

The Friends of the Marion Public Library are selling 2018 Book Lover's calendars! The calendars are for sale in the bookstore while supplies last. Each calendar is just $10. A different book is featured for every day of the year. The calendars make great gifts for all the book lovers on your Holiday gift list! (Don't forget to get one for yourself.)

Project Meetings

We've changed up the format of our building project update meetings to incorporate a tour of our current facility, including staff areas and our basement storm shelter. We'll share the most current news about the project, including renderings of what the new building will look like. Join us to learn the latest news! Watch for an updated schedule each month.

Color Me Calm

Adult Coloring Club

Relax with us at our monthly adult coloring program! The Adult Coloring Club meets on the first Tuesday of the month from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. All supplies are provided.

Novels @ Night


Novels @ Noon

Get the inside scoop on popular titles from Adult Services Coordinator Madeline Jarvis! Novels @ Night will meet on the first Tuesday of the month from 7 to 7:30 p.m. and the Novels @ Noon group will meet on the first Wednesday of the month from noon to 12:30 p.m. Feel free to bring book recommendations to share.

Study Space

for High Schoolers

High schoolers can drop in any time between 5 and 7 p.m. on December 18 through December 20 for a quiet study space, snacks, and activities during finals week! Free coffee and hot drinks provided. Need a break from studying? Make your own stress ball, do some coloring, or join a free yoga session provided by the YMCA on December 19 and December 20 from 6:30 to 7 p.m. (bring your own mat or towel).

Teen Snowflake Day

Teens: come to the Library on Friday, December 22, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. to make snowflake crafts, play minute-to-win-it games, and watch the movie Elf with Will Ferrell and Zooey Deschanel (rated PG)!

Barnes & Noble

Book Fair Fundraiser

Mention the Marion Public Library when you check out all day in store on Friday, December 15, or online from December 16 to December 20, and a percentage of your purchase cost will be donated to the library! Thanks for patronizing Barnes & Noble today and supporting the library! Our Friends group will be gift-wrapping for a goodwill donation throughout the day at the store, as well.

Teen Pathfinder Club

Whether you've never played before or have conquered many campaigns, role play games are fun, immersive experiences that explore narratives, build teamwork, and even improve math skills. Come to the library Mondays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. to find out what Pathfinder's all about. We meet in Meeting Room B!

Family Time

Join us at the library each Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. for different fun activities that parents and children can share! Look at our website

Genealogy Junkies -

Two Options!

Morning: Thursdays, 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Evening: Wednesdays, 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Our Genealogy Junkies groups provide an opportunity for anyone interested in genealogy to get together with peers to learn and to share research tips and tricks. Bring a laptop or tablet computer, or check out one of the library's laptops from the Information Desk. Explore our online resources such as, HeritageQuest, and our historical newspapers. NEW: FOLD3 with historical military records! Everyone is welcome!

Book Program

If you are homebound but would still like to be able to check out books and audiobooks from the Marion Library, we can help! Friends of the Marion Public Library sponsors the Friends Home Book Program. Grab a flyer from the library or from the Friends Bookstore. You can download an application and the flyer from our program webpage ( or email with any questions.
