Lions pick up two road wins
by Brandon Leonard Correspondent · December 7th, 2017

Starting the season out on the road isn't the easiest thing to do for any team in any sport, but it didn't seem to bother the Linn-Mar boys' basketball team. The Lions hit the road twice last week and took care of business both times, toppling Cedar Rapids Kennedy by a 59-44 final, and stomping Bettendorf 59-34 on Saturday, December 2.

With the score knotted up at 22 after two quarters of play against Kennedy, Linn-Mar used a strong third quarter to take a 13-point lead into the fourth and never looked back. Junior Trey Hutcheson showed everyone that he is going to be a force to be reckoned with right away, netting a team-high 32 points in the win. Nolan Ruff also had a solid night with eight points and a team-best four assists.

Hutcheson led the Lions in scoring again in their 25-point triumph over the Bulldogs, hitting 22 points. Cole Martin came off the bench and netted 12 points to go along with a team-high four assists.

The Lions have yet another road test tomorrow, December 8, as they will take on Cedar Rapids Xavier at 7:30 p.m. in Xavier's main gym. It will be a nail-biter as Xavier averages 61 points per game and Linn-Mar averages 59 points.
