The Linn-Mar girls' basketball team's rough start to the season continued last week, suffering three losses and falling to 0-5 to start the season. After a 48-point loss to City High, the Lions lost by one and three points, respectively, on Friday and Saturday nights to Waterloo West and Muscatine.

In the 80-32 loss to City High, Macey Miller led the team with nine points, while Skyler Presler and Megan Murphy notched six points in the loss.

The Lions brought a 14-point lead into halftime on the road against Waterloo West before eventually falling 51-50. Senior Ally Johnson had a career night with 23 points, five rebounds and three steals, but unfortunately it wasn't enough to help Linn-Mar get in the win column.

In the 50-47 loss to Muscatine, the Lions trailed by 16 entering the fourth quarter of play. Linn-Mar's furious attempt at a comeback fell just short. Johnson and Miller each had 12 points apiece while sophomore Jamison Feldman had a big impact with 11 rebounds.

Linn-Mar looked to get their first win of the season this past Tuesday against Waterloo East (results unknown at press time) and will face Cedar Rapids Xavier at 6 p.m. tomorrow, December 8, at Xavier.
