by Report submitted · December 14th, 2017

Iris Edna Tuttrup Smith, age 99, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Waseca.

Iris was born in 1918 in the upstairs loft of her uncle and aunt's general store in Lynn, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Arthur and Charlotte (Krause) Marg. She led an interesting life. Iris said that as she looked back upon her life, she can't remember ever knowing anyone she didn't like. She had a very deep love for her family and her faith and showed it in everything she did.

Everyone who ever met Iris fell in love with her because of her pure character and sweet personality. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Iris married Kenneth Tuttrup of Fernwood, Wisconsin just before he left for Europe for his four years of service during WWII. Those four years of being without the love of her life were the most difficult of her life. She often reflected on those times in later years. Ken and Iris had two sons, Terry and G.J. Tuttrup, and also owned Tut's Standard Service Station on the corner of 7th Avenue and 9th Street in Marion.

Iris is survived by one son, Terry (Brenda) Tuttrup; grandson, Matt (Molly) Tuttrup; and great-grandchildren, Brandon and Brenna, all of Waseca, MN; grandson, Jason (Angie) Tuttrup of Marion; granddaughter, Jenni Pritchett of Cedar Rapids; and many more loving great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She also is survived by nieces and nephews, Emil (Diane) Wasniewski, Robert (Alice) Wasniewski, Evelyn (Chuck) Repinski, Andrea (Mark) Costopoulos, and Lean Ann Benson.

Iris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ken; son, G.J. Tuttrup; and brother, Jan (Jean) Marg.

Iris spent the last 12 years of her life at Colony Court Assisted Living in Waseca. Her family is eternally grateful for the wonderful compassionate care she received from the entire staff and friendship of all her fellow residents. She had a very good life and was always very appreciative of everything she had.

There was a private graveside service at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion, Iowa where Iris is buried with her husband, Ken.
