Holladay finishes 2-1 at Desert Duals
by Brandon Leonard Correspondent · January 4th, 2018

Former Linn-Mar Lion and current Coe College Kohawk Andrew Holladay enjoyed a bit of success to close out 2017 at the annual Desert Duals in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Kohawks took their yearly trip out west to square off with schools from all over the United States and for Holladay, things could've gone a little better but overall he enjoyed ending his trip with two wins and a loss.

Holladay was pinned by Embry-Riddle's Elias Mason in the first period of their opening contest but battled back to defeat California Baptist's Garrett Strang via a 7-5 decision and also toppling Concordia-Moorhead's Ethan Kimber by a 10-2 major decision.

The 11th-ranked Kohawks went 1-2 in duals, beating Concordia-Moorhead 30-12 for their lone win. Embry-Riddle, who is ranked 11th in NAIA, edged them 27-20 while California Baptist rolled to a 30-12 win over the Kohawks. California Baptist is the second-ranked team in the NCAA Division II rankings.

2018 won't be any easier for Holladay and Coe College. They will travel to Fort Wayne, Indiana this weekend for the NWCA National Duals.
