Unbeaten Indians continue to impress
by Brandon Leonard Correspondent · January 11th, 2018

The top-ranked and unbeaten Marion girls' basketball team picked up right where it left off before winter break. The Indians hosted Western Dubuque and Indianola on back-to-back days and prevailed with double-digit victories in each contest. Marion disposed of Western Dubuque by a 55-21 final score and took down Indianola by a 52-36 final tally to move to 11-0 on the season.

In the win over Western Dubuque, senior leader Chloe Rice finished with 14 points, five steals and four rebounds to lead the charge for Marion. Mia Laube and Ella Van Weelden each had nine points apiece to help out the Marion cause.

In the victory over Indianola, freshman Riley Wright had her best performance of her young career. Wright led the team with 22 points off the bench and also grabbed six rebounds. Kayba Laube had 13 points to go along with three steals while Rice had seven points and 10 boards.

The Indians still reigns supreme in the WaMaC Conference and will look to maintain their top spot in the conference as well as Class 4A this week against South Tama and Clear Creek-Amana.
