Updates on recent Marion stories
by Nancy Grindle Correspondent · January 11th, 2018

Often, I write a story and then there is more than happens later on. I asked our managing editor if I could add a little bit about some of the things that have happened since the stories were published. There are pictures, too. Not quite "the rest of the story," as some aren't over yet.

Dream Factory -

Sasha and Her Ramp

Sasha Duval had a lot of people pulling for her and the Dream Factory to get a ramp so she could manage her motorized wheelchair. The ramp is done, thanks to some engineers at Rockwell. Readers saw the cement that was laid, but not the completed ramp.

More Dream Factory

Dream Factory families and friends met on Saturday, December 23, for a party at the Heritage Center. The kids played games, visited with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and decorated cookies as well as eating goodies. Sasha Duval was there with her family.

Airport Happenings

The gang at the airport was having pizza not long ago on a Friday at lunchtime. They were a pretty happy bunch and while they ranged in age from 20s to "29" (or so), they seemed pretty laid-back. It was a great occasion because Cole Norton, General Manager, had completed his first solo flight in a helicopter that morning.

Julie's House

In a recent Marion Times, I got to write about the nice, but small, house on 8th Avenue which was built by Amish people. Julie had hoped to get a good-sized addition built onto the house and to move in soon. She found a contractor, and before the super-cold weather struck, they were able to get a lot done on the addition.

Senior Living Community

Residents of the Marion Senior Living Community on Marion's east side celebrated with Christmas parties at various times in December. The Trinity Pointe party was on December 18, the party at Moundview Manor was on December 21, and the Scott Meadows party was on December 29.
