Sommer breaks record
by Brandon Leonard Correspondent · February 1st, 2018

The Wartburg College women's basketball team is undefeated and ranked second in NCAA Division III as the latter portion of the season is upon us. A big reason for their reason: the hot shooting of Linn-Mar graduate Kristie Sommer.

In the Knights' 96-51 win over the University of Dubuque last Saturday, Sommer hit all four of her three-point attempts and scored 24 points to lead Wartburg to another victory. In the process, Sommer broke the school's record for most three-pointers made and continued to add to her tally.

Sommer is averaging 9.3 points per game, fifth-best on the team while her sister, Katie, leads the team with 14.4 points per contest. Another Lion alum, Aryn Jones, is averaging 9.4 points per game with all three Linn-Mar graduates starting every game for the Knights this season.

Wartburg will be in action this week with a road game against Buena Vista University and a home contest with Simpson College.
