Indians win two, drop one
by Brandon Leonard Correspondent · February 1st, 2018

The pursuit to get above .500 is still on for the Marion boys' basketball team as they now sit at 8-9 overall. The Indians did fall to Center Point-Urbana on the road, but also picked up a pair of home wins over Benton Community and Oelwein to gain a little momentum before their three-game home stretch in the coming weeks.

In the 64-54 loss to the Stormin' Pointers, Chase Zielke scored 25 points but it wasn't enough to get the victory as no other Indian managed to score in double figures.

Zielke had 17 points in the win over Benton while Matthew Brase had 12 points in the 45-36 grind-it-out style win that the Indians are known for. Zielke matched his 17 points again in the 53-34 triumph over Oelwein. Trevor Paulsen had a strong outing with 11 points and eight rebounds while Jaffer Murphy had 10 points coming off the bench.

Marion has a pair of home games this week against Vinton-Shellsburg and South Tama.
